Extreme obesity

Trauma (trigger warning)

There is a recurring theme I have noticed in women who are in the extreme obesity range and not gaining on purpose. Most of the women have a history of trauma. Often its growing up in abusive household, molestation, sexual assault. Am I the only person who has seen this pattern?

There is a level to this.
I have seen depression can go into just about any category.

It's people in general who refuse to want to get out of that hole that can make this lifestyle difficult with a partner.

No, you're not the only one who has seen this pattern.

As someone with a degree in psych and as someone who *loves* the human mind... I have much to say, but I'll just say this for now and maybe come back later:

When taking one of My psych courses back in college, pretty much the first thing the professor shared was that anorexia can be triggered by sexual abuse, specifically with the reasoning that "If I'm skinny and unattractive, it won't happen again" or "If I don't have a period/have breasts, no one will see me as a woman and a target"

And

This was *not* said by the professor, but I would 300% stand by My assessment that the same can be said about morbid obesity and uncontrollable gaining.

I dunno, I could go on, but yeah, the human mind and body is a lot more reactive and pattern-following than we really are even aware.
